The past ten days (bits and piecies)

Photosession with Tara, yay! She is definitely my favorite person to shoot with. We shot pictures inside her house and some by the sea. This is one of my favorites. ✝ Our street has been covered with pink blossom and this tree is the one who’s responsible for it. ✝ It’s moving time again! I decided I wanted to get rid of some clothing so I cleaned out my closet. If I’m not going to wear it, I’d rather have someone else enjoying them. ✝ I also found these babies! Totally forgot I had them.
Another picture from when I was shooting with Tara. I borrowed a camera from a friend so we could shoot some clips of her playing her music which she then could send to her family in Ireland. Scroll down if you want to hear one of her songs. ✝ I paid a visit to the optician and got some new glasses. I’ll have to wait two weeks for them to arrive, bugger… I’ll show you when I’ve got them :)

(Tara is a bit shy, so she’s probably going to kill me when she sees her face plastered all over this page)

(I don’t care)

She said she felt brave today, so I was granted the permission (he he) to make the youtube clips public. Here you go, here is one of her songs:

PLEASE IGNORE MY POOR VIDEO (EDITING) SKILLS. I decided to try and zoom in at the end, BAD IDEA, lol.

I had a really hard time choosing which one I would show. Eventually I chose this one because I love how it feels like a very honest and cute song. It’s not really my story to tell, but listen to it and you’ll know what it’s about. Go check it out at my youtube channel (eventually she will have them up on her own channel, this was just for easy sharing purposes).

Speaking of (being) green: I really love how everything is turning green outside. It all happened over the course of one weekend. Suddenly it looked like summer! Too bad it’s been raining ever since.

- other stuff –

Anne took me to see The Great Gatsby as a birthday present this week and whoaahhh… it was amazing. I really loved it! I was a bit worried when I saw the trailer that it would simply be too much for me (director Baz Luhrmann has a really distinctive way of filmmaking), but I was pleasantly surprised! ♥ My two favorite songs from the soundtrack of The Great Gatsby: Lana del Rey with Young and Beautiful & Florence + The Machine with Over the Love ♥ A friend of mine showed me reddit.com and now I’m seriously hooked (also, please don’t call me Shirley). I have an app on my phone and I keep checking it every few minutes. A few gems: IamA, were you can ask questions to people who have something to tell (like a refugee from north Korea or a police officer or someone who has a few days left to live), the“funny” tag or the one about politics. ♥ I drove FOUR hours this week and I’m finally getting the hang of it (sort of). Atleast I haven’t killed anyone yet. ♥ My work-out clothes have not seen daylight this week. Yes, I’m a lazy bum. And I reallly don’t care. ♥ We don’t know what we should do with our vacation! Warsaw and Krakow or being lazy on a beach somewhere? (whitegirlproblems) ♥ “When I look at you a Coldplay song plays in my heart”, haha! I love GIRLS! (the series. Sorry ladies.) ♥ One of my best friends is getting married and she asked me to be her “best man”! Wow, such an honor! I’m very happy for them :) ♥ The final episode of The Office aired last week… what can I say? It was just the way I wanted it to be, or maybe even better. I’m not going to spoil it for you, no worries! Just want to say it was great. ♥

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have a house to pack….. Pfffff. Have a nice weekend everybody xx

Images and thoughts

▲ 1. We have been taking our bikes out quite a lot the past few weeks and I just HAD to take a picture of our pretty view along the way. ▲ 2. WE HAVE TICKETS!! I’m finally going to see Stevie!!! It’s still a few months away. Counting down the days. ▲ 3. Awesome picture of our king with his parents (when he was younger -obviously). Lion King? Anybody? ▲ 4. On our way home, when passing Rotterdam.

I deleted my twitter and (public) instagram yesterday. I just felt like it and don’t regret it at all. I also had my second driving lesson, which I actually enjoyed.

{ two pictures from Frankfurt }

{ all else }

The soundtrack for The Bling Ring is here! And I’m now listening to it for the first time. I love Sofia and her soundtracks, so I have high hopes for it. ♥ So many hearts for The Office. Can’t believe it’s almost over! ♥ I seriously get goosebumps every.single.time while watching this. (ok ok ok, enough fangirling) Rhiannonnnn! ♥ Speaking of goosebumps… Still can’t believe how beautiful our new queen looked in that gorgeous dress by Jan Taminiau. ♥ You’ve probably read this already, but if you haven’t, then I think you should. If you’ve actually wondered what your life would look like without the internet, then this article “I’m still here: back online after a year without the internet” by Paul Miller is a read for you. ♥

Oh, and before I forget: It’s Annemerel’s birthday today! Yay! ♥

(Psst.. I heard she celebrated it with cocktails and pulled a real “Serena on Thanksgiving“, if you know what I mean… xoxo GG)

Too much to tell, not even going to try

(A picture I took after our wine and dine in the park, thanks Kim for tolerating me and my camera-craziness.)

I’ve written several vomit-inducing paragraphs and deleted them all. Let’s just say I’m loving life (gag) at the moment. The past few weeks have been great and YAY, summer is FINALLY here! Feels like I’ve been waiting FOR-EV-ER.

Hope you are all doing well! :)

Destination: Frankfurt am Main

Last week we took a trip to Frankfurt. It was sort of a “things I want to do before I die” slash “we have vouchers, so let’s use them” kind of thing. The first one because of the great importance Frankfurt has had in the ~realm of philosophy~ (my boyfriend wrote his thesis about Adorno) and the second because we had some left over hotel tickets we had to use before the end of july. Even though we were both excited to go on this roadtrip and explore Frankfurt, I think we both couldn’t have predicted we would love this city so much. Yes, I use the word LOVE. I’ll show you why.

That thing called life

Jep, my bathing suit! I went for a swim this thursday (and the one before that) and it was surprisingly fun. ▲ Nathalie came to visit me and here I was waiting for her to arrive at the trainstation. I felt a bit like a tour guide when I was showing her “my” city. We enjoyed the nice weather (which means: ICECREAM) and had a great day! ▲ This may not be the most healthiest drink I know, but it sure is the most delicious one. Pick up your favorite vanilla icecream, throw in some strawberries (or other red fruit), add a little bit of milk and blend it. Especially good when the sun is shining! ▲ Kim bought me a tiara for my birthday, how cool?! She knows me so well! This is pretty accurate.
Last weekend the sun was shining and Kim needed some pictures of her outfit. You can go over to her blog to check out the final results. She also took my new facebook profile picture.
My wallpaper, a movie still from Ginger & Rosa. ▲ We went to the local movie theatre and saw “The Master”. I’m not sure what to think of it, but it wasn’t really my cup of tea, I guess… ▲ I went to the gym! (it felt a bit weird to take pictures, but luckily it was quiet) ▲ Some people ask me why I don’t go to the gym more often when I get to work out for free. Well, it’s simple really: when I go to my gym, it also feels like work. Because I work there. And EVERY time (I’m not kidding) someone will come up to me and “bother” me with work stuff. It sounds a bit dramatic (again, I refer to the “dramaqueen” category this blog has), but sometimes that can be a bit frustrating. Yesterday it went alright, I almost escaped the curse (!), until five minutes before leaving my boss came up to me. And I’m really bad at saying no, so this morning I was standing in front of our old Town Hall handing out flyers… I had fun, but, well, let’s say it proves my point ;-)

Other stuff:

Last weekend I met up with Anne, whom I hadn’t spoken to in almost 4 (!) years. Honestly, it felt like yesterday when I was talking to her. Yes, a great way to spend my saturday night :) ♥ Is there someone else here who is following The Office? Am I the only one who thinks Jim is becoming kind of a dick?! ♥ I took me a few times replaying it, but now I’m hooked… Miley, you got me again. ♥ Tonight I’m going to watch Tara perform. She’s playing at a local café and I’m going there with my boyfriend to enjoy some cocktails (and beers, probably). Oh, and champagne of course, because tomorrow I turn 23. Seriously, when did that happen?! ♥ I laughed way too hard when I saw this. I think my favorite is Radimir! ;) ♥ There is DEFINITELY going to be Veronica Mars movie, yay! ♥ “WHEN MEN ARE OBJECTIFIED – EXAMINING JON HAMM” Interesting read. Also: this. I don’t necessarily agree with every single thing that’s being said in these articles, but it is certainly food for thought. ♥ Next week we will explore Frankfurt. Have you been there before? If so, what is a must-see? ♥

To finish up this post, here is one of my favorite work-out songs:

I mean, come on, ain’t no way they can stop me now! (yes, I listen to rap during my work-out) (& yes, I also take myself way too seriously)

Some “old” photographs

Tara and I had too much fun talking about feminism and good music yesterday (lol, that sounds so pretentious but I swear we are no hipsters yo, we aren’t even cool enough to be hipsters), that we didn’t have time to take pictures. We did make plans to record a music-video for one of her songs though, which I think is going to be so much fun. I’ve always wanted to try and record something. That will probably happen next week.

Because I don’t have anything thing new to show you, I wanted to share some older pictures I took of Tara. These are from almost three years ago and I still love them. It was my first “real photoshoot” with my first “real” camera at the time and it went all sorts of wrong because of the bad lighting (I did not yet have my 50mm lense at the time), but I still think they look ok. My intention was for them to be kind of cinematic looking and I think I sort of succeeded!

By all means: I am not a professional photographer, but I really enjoyed creating these and that is what it’s all about right?

Way too much text (also has the word ASS in it)

Let’s start this 50th post (yay!) with some instagram pictures:

We went for a long two hour walk this weekend and ended up by the sea. It was sooo cold! I love this picture my boyfriend took of me :) ▲ I drink lots and lots of tea with this cold weather. This one is gentle green tea, with a lot of pretty colours in it ▲ Don’t know why I included this (probably to complete this collage, hehe), but here you can see the contents of my make-up bag. ▲ I took my written driver’s license test (Auto-theorie? Learner’s permit? Translation?) and I passed, yay! Now I just have to get the courage to actually take a driving-lesson… This is a picture of a stupid question in my theory book.

Monday my family from the south came to visit us and we went for a walk (pictured: my niece, nephew and sister) ▲ Me again, with the light-house in the background.

Hey guys! Or girls. Women? I don’t know, which one do you prefer? Well, this week was pretty eventful I must say. Remember I just moved? Turns out that we have to move again! Yes, who would have thought?! The house we are living in (my father’s) has been on the market for 1,5 years, we live in it for almost two months and suddenly it’s sold. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Of course we knew this could happen, but I must say we were pretty shocked it actually happened so soon. Happy for my father of course, but nonetheless a little bit of a bummer for us. Or maybe a new challenge? Hm, I must say it has kept me awake a few nights already, although I do know we will be fine. As long as we’re together, right? (aaw, too much cheese?)

Let’s move on (ha-ha, pun intended).

Have you heard about Annemerel‘s Fit For Summer project? When she added me to the facebook group I jokingly asked her if it was a hint and I kind of dismissed the idea to actually join in, but I soon realized that this was actually the “little push” I was waiting for. Long story short: I plan to complete the Fit For Summer challenge! This week we have to do a 30 minute cardio work-out everyday for five days, so we can take the weekend off or take a rest-day in between. Totally do-able! Yesterday I started the week by biking to my mom, which with the strong wind turned out to be a tough 45 minute ride (times two, cause we had to go back as well). Today I decided to skip the work-out, because my ASS felt sore (I need more fat on my ass!!! Now let’s hope my upper-thighs will hear this and can TAKE A HINT) and my back needed some rest. Instead I watched Sex and the City and ate some american pancakes with strawberries (hey, I need some fuel as well, right?). Tomorrow I will be back in the game and probably go to the gym. Or maybe go for a run if the sun is shining… fingers crossed on that one. Anyway, I’m pretty excited about this challenge. I was missing some routine in my life and this will add some, if only a little (pathetic? me? a little bit? maybe). If you want to join in as well: here is a link to the facebook group.

♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ MORE STUFF ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥ ♥

(my sister)

My sister has completed a month of vlogging and I think she’s pretty good at it! Last week she wanted some new profile pictures taken (I also promised to make her “channel art”? Should look into that) and by doing so I also made my youtube debut in one of her vlogs. Curious about her vlogs? Check it out! ♥ I am realllllly excited for Sofia’s new movie The Bling Ring. Emma Watson was great in The Perks of being a Wallflower and I think she will be great in this new one. The trailer looks good! ♥ This week I’m going to have a lot of girl time. Tomorrow Nathalie will come visit me (so brave of her, coming all the way to the end of the world! lol), friday I’m shooting again with Tara (although she doesn’t know this yet, but I’ll be totally bringing my camera), saturday night I’ll be catching up with a highschool friend whom I haven’t spoken to in almost three years (it’s been waaaay too long) and Kim will also be in Holland this week, so yay! ♥ I had a good laugh about Mascha’s April Fools joke. A cheese mask? Really?! Have you fooled anyone yesterday? ♥ Have I told you I love Bill Murray? No? Well, I LOVE HIM. He’s amazing. I finally watched Steve Zissou and the Life Aquatic this week and goddd, that dance of his. I’m laughing just thinking about it (probably only funny if you’ve seen the movie). ♥ If you have a burning question for me, you can now ask it via the link in my menu on the right —-> you see? I don’t know if anyone is ever going to use it, but I thought it would be fun. ♥ What the… hahaha, this is awful. Who made this up?!

And as usual, a song to close it all up:

Because Lost in Translation is always a good idea.

Have a good week everybody! Hope you are all doing well!
