Hoi allemaal!
Hoi.
This is where I leave you .
Even poseren.
→ Listening to music on our balcony ♥ Paying a visit to the Greenbox museum ♥ Picking flowers on long evening walks ♥ The first barbecue of the year ♥ “wait, let me fix my hair first” ♥ Leeren is leven, kennis is macht (learning is living, knowledge is power) ♥ coffee coffee coffee ♥ “wow that is one big door, let’s pose in front of it” ♥ Little nooks in our home ♥ Ultraviolence ON REPEAT. Love the clip for Shades of Cool.
Our fun and summery weekend in Zeeland and Ghent last week ♥ Seeing my family again and having dinner at Kim’s. ♥ Wearing summershoes and rolling up the ends of my jeans (finally!) ♥ Spending my life with my best friend ♥
Our “new” heater. ♥ A lot of work went into this one! It was originally a very bright orange and we spraypainted it ivory. A friend of ours also installed a LED light in it, so in the evening you can actually turn it on and see a yellow or purple light behind the round glass. I love it! It’s purely for decorating purposes, but I think it really adds something to our living room.
Our new tv, a housewarming/birthday gift from my dad. Quite the surprise! Also: pretty flowers (such a shame they only last a couple of days).
The only time I buy a magazine? If it has the title De Groene Amsterdammer on it’s cover or when I’m on vacation. It’s not really in my weekly budget. Our weekend to Zeeland felt like a vacation (it technically was), so I allowed myself to buy one. I’m really into interior design lately and I loved perusing this. So much inspiration! Maybe I should buy it more often.
Once a year I treat myself to new skin stuff. It costs a fortune, but I love using it everyday. It’s well worth it’s money I think! I’m also trying out a new moisturiser by Clinique. I really liked using their yellow one (don’t know what it’s called?), but this one has SPF in it. Big plus! And the nail polish? I’m apparently late to the party, because everybody already knows it’s fantastic. It’s the perfect colour and it makes it look like you’ve just had a manicure. I’ve been wearing it for 4 days and it still hasn’t chipped! Thanks Anne for recommending it to me! (it’s Bubble Bath by O.P.I.).
This album by Buckingham Nicks (are you getting sick of my Stevie Nicks talk yet?!). I’m seriously obsessed. It’s probably not everybody’s cup of tea, but if you want you can take a listen to it. In case you’ve missed it: I’ve embedded the youtube file below the above picture. My favourites: Frozen Love, Crystal and Races are run.
Have a great week! ♥
♦ I’ve been practicing with water-colouring. It sure is harder than you think, at least for someone who doesn’t even know how to properly draw a tree… (I still do the “cloud with legs” thing). For now I think I’ll just stick with text… This one is (of course!) a lyric by Fleetwood Mac and will definitely end up in a frame. I can really recommend making something like this yourself, I had fun!
♦ On friday we went to Amsterdam to a) hand in an assignment, b) lunch (Bagels&Beans! yess), c) meet up with one of our friends for a drink and d) enjoy the good weather. It was one of those days where you don’t know where you will end up. In our case we got stranded on a train-station near our town (after a spontaneous visit to Ikea). We called a friend to ask for him to come and pick us up and then I spotted Tara at the other side of the tracks and we waved and then we were suddenly with four people in a car talking about ideas for crazy costume parties (the huge parrot costume with a pirate on his shoulder was my favourite). We were home by eleven, but it sure felt like we experienced three days in one.
♦ Second semester starts next week, which means that the crazy study thing will start again. The last couple of days I have been without deadlines and IT. IS. HEAVENLY. Today we are planning on taking a spontaneous roadtrip (if we can arrange a car, that would be essential of course). Who knows where we will end up! I love this feeling.
Enjoy your sunday xx
My monday: drinking coffee and cleaning the house while it’s raining outside (AGAIN). Listening to this and this (the title song from Parenthood, my latest tv-show obsession). Trying out some more water colouring after my first attempt yesterday and starting a new book. All in all a nice start of the week :) (also: Tara drew a cartoon version of me, how cool!)
Sunday breakfast at our own home. It feels so nice to have our own place again, I absolutely love it (and don’t worry, I did not force my boyfriend to watch Gossip Girl with me!) ♥ I ordered a book for school (something to do with my master thesis, can’t believe that has already appeared on my to do list) and found the envelope to be a real masterpiece. ♥ Last week we paid a visit to one of our favourites shops: IKEA. We spent a lot more money than anticipated, but it was worth every single penny. We bought some curtains and also this footstool (it was on sale, I simply could not leave it behind). ♥ On instagram I posted a really lame joke accompanying this picture. Something with grenades and a certain Bruno Mars song. Couldn’t help myself.
On instagram there’s this thing called “throwback thursday” (or tuesday? don’t know actually). I decided to post some pictures I took during my stay in Sweden (2012). A picture from Malmö, a picture I took in Ystad and the other one is my dorm room. One of my friends I met there messaged me on Facebook this week and something he said made me realise: it has been almost 2 years since I started my semester in Lund. That’s crazy! It really feels like yesterday. ♥ Hot choco and WHIPPED CREAM. How could I ever survive the dark cold seasons without those two?
Another buy from Ikea: our storage shelves for the kitchen. Super cheap, still cute. On the right you can see my other solution for storing stuff in a small kitchen: hanging stuff on the wall. Why not, right? The “poffertjes” pan I scored at the thriftstore for only 2,5 euros. I was looking for one for ages! ♥ The second picture is one of some details from our living room :-)
Hi guys! I feel like I haven’t updated in ages. Here is a non-coherent post.
I finally developed the disposable camera I took with me to Sweden. I totally forgot about the pictures that were on there! This picture was taken on the day my friends left for home (I stayed for another week until my boyfriend arrived and we enjoyed Sweden some more).
My new glasses.
Taken during one of our evening walks last week (I swear, I’m turning into an old lady). That’s my man from behind.
I shouted “STOP THE CAR!”, got out and took this shot. Totally worth it.
I realize this may look a bit creepy and obsessed, but I swear, I am totally healthy.
Found the perfect nailpolish at a store called Hema (“on tuesdays we wear pink!”). BTW, it’s very hard to get a good picture of your nails! Just my hand by itself looked boring and freaky (seriously, try photographing your feet, that’s even stranger) en there is no way to look natural if you’re showing off your nails in any other way. Although, this one actually turned out pretty natural looking:
Sorry for scaring you.
Reading: After I watched the film (I’ve seen it for a second time this week actually) I had to start the book: The Great Gatsby. What strikes me is how true the film is to the book. I recognize so much of the sentences they literally used in the film! I think that’s such a great accomplishment by the director/script writer. Maybe not that difficult when you are using the work of a great writer (Scott Fitzgerald), but to translate that to the screen in such a great way… Beautiful. There are so many great sentences in that book! I love these: “I hope she’ll be a fool — that’s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool.” & “And I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties there isn’t any privacy.”. I think everyone can relate to the last one, right?
I am also reading “The Happiness project” by Gretchen Rubin. I normally don’t read two books at a time, but it sort of happened (?). Ah, who cares. I don’t. Anyway, I like it so far. Sometimes I think it is a bit too straight forward and a bit difficult to relate to (I’m not married, nor do I have children like she does), but overall it is a fun read. It’s not necessarily a book for people who are unhappy, it’s about implementing small changes in your life to bring about more happiness. That is what I like about it, because unlike some books like Eat Pray Love, she shows you can also bring more happiness into your life without moving across the ocean or some other BIG change (don’t get me wrong, I loved Eat Pray Love, but I don’t have the funds to just go to Italy and eat gelato ;) Or spaghetti. Nor do I want to).
Watching: The OC. Jups. Totally Annemerel’s fault. she’s been raving about it for years and this summer I finally had to see what all the fuzz was about. It is AWFUL. But also very fun. I’m now up to season 2 and I have a feeling this is going to be gooooooddd and juicy! The new season of Silent Witness has started as well (for a while now actually) and I kind of forgot about that, so I have three delicious episodes to catch up on. Don’t you just love it when that happens?
Thinking about: Wether or not we should move or stay (yes, still! It’s driving me crazy). And: what to do with our travel plans. I want to get away for a few days, but we can’t seem to decide. That’s so typically us… it almost always turns out we just stay at home, hehe. Yes, we are great decision makers! NOT! Maybe it’s better to just stay at home (getting my driving license is expensive enough as it is), but to just think of all the fun we’ll miss out on… Why is it so hard to decide? I think I get decision anxiety when I think about all of our options. I just want to do it all! Sometimes I have to remind myself I (probably) have enough years left to travel as much as I want. But hmmm, were to start? What are your travel plans this summer?
I’ll try anything once by The Strokes
In other news: I’m going to walk the “Avondvierdaagse” this week! For four days we will walk 10 kilometers every evening. I haven’t taken part in that since I was a little kid in middleschool (only then we used to walk the 5km), but I read about it in the newspapers and decided to sign myself up, together with my boyfriend and one of our good friends. I hope the weather will be nice! What are your plans?
Have a great week! xx
